new tv sets going green?

My friend Jenn offers this item:

Tokyo, Jan. 19 (Jiji Press)--Sony Corp. said Monday it will launch new
liquid crystal display television sets featuring low power
consumption.

The Japanese electronics maker said that 40- and 46-inch models have
power consumption levels some 40 pct lower than those of equivalent
conventional models, making them the most energy- efficient in the
industry.

They are part of six new models in the company's Bravia line of LCD
TVs, which will be released in stages starting Feb. 20.

The two larger V5 models have a sensor to detect people's movements,
turning off automatically if there is no longer anybody there to watch
them.

By promoting high added value, Sony aims to stop the fall in TV
prices.

The other four J5 models have displays that range from 19 inches to 32
inches.

The six models are expected to sell between 80,000 yen and 280,000
yen.

In 2009, global flat-panel TV shipments are expected to continue
rising in volume, but sales of them are forecast to fall some 15 pct
in value, according to U.S. research firm DisplaySearch
